The property that today is home to Knoebels Amusement Park was been owned by a member of Knoebel family since The Rev. Henry Hartman Knoebel bought it in 1829 for $931. At first, the family used it for farming and lumbering.
The birth of what is billed as America's largest free admission amusement park occurred in 1926 when a Knoebels Grove opened with a merry-go-round that was on loan, a pool and a few food stands.
Over the years, the park has added rides and attractions second to none but still kept the home-town tradition and family value ideals. Knoebels has been voted USA's favorite traditional amusement park several times!!
